I don’t even… ._. I said, no more Amnesia fanart this month. But, I couldn’t… I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED (insert the pic here)

…to draw Daniel.

Just relax, and look at dat manly back. Also, what the hell, my dagger is long enough to be a shortword. *facepalm* I dunno how to draw weapons. ಠ益ಠ

BEHOLD, my number #1 favorite scene from the game! "Paint the man, cut the lines. PAINT THE MAN, CUT THE LINES!" :iconnosebleedingplz: Also, I've watched a playthrough russian version of the game, and, even if you don't understand russian, I strongly recommend watching the above scene. You'll be impressed on how PSYCHO (true, true!) Daniel sounds. But, expetdely, they removed the famous 'Nyan' sound from the original. xD

PS: There is a lot of ‘paint the man’ pictures here and dA, but a lot of people forget that Daniel painted the man before cutting. Hence the dripping green paint. <3

And yes, I used some pose references for drawing back muscles.

You chose a great scene!! And I really like that you chose to show it from the back, which not only is an unusual perspective, but seems appropriate as we never see his face in-game... and I think it kind of works with the whole feeling of "Amnesia" as well: kind of that creepy unsettling atmosphere, where it's what you don't see that becomes the most terrifying. So knowing what he is doing here yet not being able to see his face is kind of horrific... as well as the tilted pose that implies a lot of instability in not just his physical but also his mental state.

I believe his proportions are a bit off (although I haven't studied anatomy as much from the back, heh ); I think his torso and arms are a bit long and calves/feet too small in comparison, but it still works in a stylized kind of way: with the direction of the movement through the figure, it's not really noticeable and actually has a kind of cool effect. (and very nice muscles, too, btw. ^^)

Also great use of complementary colors! I think red and green are the hardest to get to work together because of their Christmas association, but this is anything but holiday/cheery; you've managed to make them look suitably eerie together. (I want to say 'downright sickening', but I mean that in the best way possible, rofl!)

I think you could pull back on the texturing a bit to make it more subtle, but it really does add something to the piece: definitely gives it a more gritty feeling.

Would it still be called 'backlit' if he's facing the other way? xD Anyway, I like the lighting effect you have, though I wonder if the center of his back wouldn't be darker if the light is coming from in front of him. Still, it looks cool. ^^

In fact, the more I stare at it, the more freaked out I am by his body language. I'm not sure how much I'm projecting (from knowing this scene already), but you seriously managed to make him look so ominously crazy and in the middle of doing something terrible; I'd hate to be standing in front of him.

And I'm glad I finished watching the playthroughs, so now I can better understand your Amnesia paintings! I really think you did the game/character justice here and it ties in quite well. So altogether, a very nice yet (appropriately!) disturbing piece. ;D
