Sacrifice

Once a man has seen too much, he cannot live with it.

A painting practice, where I try to paint hands. Did I mention that painting hands is extremely annoying and difficult? So many lines, wrinkles and that stuff... which changes drastically depending from which angle you're watching. Gah. Also, woooh, my first picture where I slapped mature content for gore! I felt this was needed here. I hope you can differentiate blood from the Shadow's tissue.

The plot behind this... well, I already illustrated the bad ending, but this is the cell, 4th, ending and, imo, it's even sadder, cause Daniel, knowing this perfectly, sacrifices himself. So I pictured Daniel sitting in the corner with a withered Damascus Rose (symbolism: lost memories) watching dispassionately how the Shadow's slime slowly fills the entire cell. Initially I wanted to have him clutching his lantern, but later thought that a rose is much more... unusual to add. Still. It's heartbreaking. What AM I DOING. Why am I killing off my favorite character from the franchise, AGAIN? I don't even know at this point. But I hope you like it!

And, yeah, the context does remind me of Ib a bit, since health there is represented by roses. Also, I would imagine the Shadow slurping hungrily on the blood, despite how gross it sounds.
